Derek Nepinak

Derek Nepinak is current and former Chief of the Minegoziibe Anishinabe (2008-2012, 2021-), a Treaty 4 community of approximately 5,400 Anishinabe people. He is the former Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (2011-2017). Derek graduated from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2008 and completed the intensive program in Aboriginal Lands, Resources & Governance (Osgoode Hall Law School, 2008). Derek also graduated First Class, with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree in Native Studies from the University of Alberta (2004). Recently, Derek attended and completed the Harvard Business School executive education program Leading People and Investing in Sustainable Communities (2024).
